Kindle Cloud Reader Now Available On Mozilla

Amazon announced today that its Kindle Cloud Reader is now available for Mozilla Firefox, which makes Kindle books available for buying and reading directly through the Firefox web browser.  It works on Firefox 6 and above. The app has previously allowed for web reading on Chrome, Safari on the iPad and Safari on a desktop.

Dorothy Nicholls, Director, Amazon Kindle, stated: “Instant access to your books in the browser, combined with a beautifully designed and feature rich HTML5 application experience, has made Kindle Cloud Reader the best launch we’ve ever had for a Kindle app.  We’re excited to further extend our ‘Buy Once, Read Everywhere’ mission and give Mozilla Firefox users access to the largest selection of the most popular books, all without leaving their web browser.”

The app supports the HTML 5 format. Amazon opened up the Kindle to support HTML 5 files last month. GalleyCat explains why publishers should leverage this format.
