Facebook responded to yet another controversy over photos that were removed from the social network, this time in the case of Kendall Jones, a 19-year-old cheerleader from Texas Tech University, who posted several photos of animals she had shot and killed while on a safari in Zimbabwe earlier this month.

Jones’ photos infuriated animal-rights groups, and Mashable reported that an online petition demanding that Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg remove the images totaled more than 328,000 signatures at the time of this post, but a Facebook spokesperson told Mashable the photos were not removed due to the public outcry.
