Just Down the Street and to the Right

Hey, something in this writer’s neck of the woods! Coming up shortly, in the next couple weeks, at the bigger-than-big Merchandise Mart, is the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair. From June 12th through the 14th, it’s largely for the interior design set, but it’s also got loads of stuff to see for architects and designers of any and all interests and specialties. There’s all kinds of seminars and workshops, and all those things you’d expect from one of the bigger design events that come through these parts. We’re going to try to get some of our top secret field agents in there to snap some photos and dish the dirt on the whole deal. Check back in a couple of weeks. Oh, and here’s the exhibit we’re most excited to see, “Architecture of the Body-United Nude”:

Check out radical footwear designed by architect Rem D. Koolhaas (nephew of Rem Koolhaas senior, Pritzker prize-winning architect) and English shoemaker, Galahad J.D. Clark. Inspired by products such as Mies Van der Rohe’s Barcelona chair and the Eames chair, this exhibit will feature ubersexy shoes that are iconic of unmistakable modern style and timeless furniture design and inspiration. Get the insider’s perspective from the visionary himself as he translates how his aesthetic concepts for podiatric architecture have become the “it” factor for fashion and style.
