JoyBits' Doodle Games Surpass 150 Million Downloads

Gaming company JoyBits has today announced its series of “Doodle” games has surpassed 150 million downloads in 150 countries, with 50 million of those downloads being on mobile devices. The franchise includes Doodle God, Doodle Devil, Doodle Farm, Doodle Kingdom and Doodle Creatures, and gives players the power of creation, as they mix-and-match elements to create new items and/or build entire worlds one game at a time. JoyBits is currently in the middle of a complete transition to the free-to-play business model, and has released Version 3.0 of its flagship title, Doodle God, on iOS and Google Play. This update introduces players to a new “planet” mode [pictured at top], as the elements players create come to life on their planet in real-time. In addition, a new mission mode has been introduced to keep players moving and progressing in the game. Another update has been announced for the company’s Doodle Devil, which will receive “demon battle” mode [pictured below], allowing users to battle their demons in the game. Both Doodle God and Doodle Devil will be updated to support iOS 8 devices, and will be available in new languages (13 in all).JoyBits has launched three new games in the franchise in 2014, including Doodle God Planet, a release on Windows 8 and Windows Phone. The free-to-play title generated more than one million downloads in its first month, while also climbing the platform’s “Top Grossing” app charts. On top of this trio, the developer has two or three additional games set to release this year, including Doodle God Blitz and Doodle God Mythology. The company expects its 2014 revenue to grow by at least 50 percent over 2013’s figures, and for 2015’s revenue to double, thanks, in part, to the upcoming release of Doodle God 2. This is alongside four new “Doodle 1” games, built on the original Doodle God engine. Doodle God 2 is currently in production, and is slated to launch in closed beta before the end of the year. The title is described as the company’s “most ambitious game ever,” and will combine elements from an open-world builder (like Minecraft) with those from a simulation game. “The best is yet to come,” said Paul Baldwin, CEO of JoyBits, in a statement. “We anticipate tremendous revenue and profit growth over the next 12 months, capped by the launch of [the] highly anticipated and completely re-imagined Doodle God 2 next year!” “Today marks a tremendous achievement by the JoyBits team and is a testament to the quality and global popularity of the Doodle series," added Anton Rybakov, founder of JoyBits.
