Journalist and Researcher Sue CIA, DOJ, Et Al for Ignoring FOIA Request on Russia's Role in U.S. Elections

Jason Leopold and Ryan Shapiro want information.

Investigative reporter Jason Leopold and MIT Ph.D. candidate Ryan Shapiro filed a lawsuit against the CIA, DOJ/FBI, Department of Homeland Security/Office of Intelligence & Analysis and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) for failing to respond to a FOIA request for information on discussions of Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

The FOIA request was made on Dec. 15, which would have made for an extremely fast turnaround, but the pair also made a request for expedited processing; the DOJ and CIA are both required to inform requesters within 10 days after receipt whether they have been granted expedited processing.
