Jose Maria Aznar Not A Fan Of Local Members of Spanish Media

From Carol Joynt, owner of Nathans of Georgetown:

I’m sorry to inform you at this late hour, but H.E Jose Maria Aznar, the former prime minister of Spain, has cancelled his interview with me tomorrow at The Q&A Cafe. In an apparent misunderstanding, he and his staff were not comfortable with the fact the audience would include members of the Spanish news media, or any media. As you know the lunches are open to anyone who makes a reservation, the interviews always are completely on the record, and they are webcast. There are media at almost every Q&A Cafe.

I tried very hard to get President Aznar to reconsider, but there were no terms that would be acceptable to both of us.

Please know I regret canceling. President Aznar also regrets having to back out. This has not happened before in The Q&A Cafe’s five year history.

Next Wednesday, February 21, we welcome novelist Susan Isaacs, and I hope you will attend. If you would like to make a reservation, please contact Jon Moss at 202.338.200.

Nonetheless, tomorrow we will have plenty of paella available for, and lovely Valentine’s cookies, and chocolate truffles. Maybe you’ll still stop by for lunch or dinner.

    Best regards,

    Carol Joynt
