Podcast Host Beams Down to First Official Star Trek Cruise

Jordan Hoffman is aboard, drink voucher in hand.

For the host of an official Star Trek podcast, it doesn’t get much better. Jordan Hoffman, who regales fans of the franchise weekly via Engage, is aboard the first-ever official Star Trek cruise.

The ship sails today from Miami, with stops in Cozumel, Mexico and the Bahamas before returning to port Jan. 14. Hoffman also covers movies for The Guardian, Vanity Fair and other outlets.

On a recent episode of Engage, Hoffman welcomed fellow journalist and Star Trek aficionado Scott Mantz. The pair started off by talking about the fact that Mantz’s Access Hollywood movie reviews are regularly featured in the back of New York taxicabs, where Hoffman often sees them.

More Star Trek cruises on Norwegian Cruise Line are planned for 2018. Joining Hoffman on the maiden voyage is a group of series cast members that includes Brent Spiner, George Takei and Levar Burton.

Mantz was on the red carpet last night in Los Angeles, co-hosting streaming Golden Globes pre-show coverage from the Beverly Hilton with Yvette Nicole Brown. At no point did he reference a movie called Hidden Fences.
