What word do you routinely misspell? Just one?

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? Annoying

What time did you get up this morning? 6 a.m.

When did you last cry and why? Not a big crier (Not that there’s anything wrong with that). Probably when my Uncle Bernie died. He was a true “good guy.” I choke up often for my kids. But this presidential race has made me want to cry.

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? 85 or so, including about 20 that are actually non-spam.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? Too many, mostly former editors. Dave Levine, Frank Scandale, Ted Fang.

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? Last spring, volunteering clean-up day at my son’s pre-school

Who is your favorite active journalist? Bob Woodward keeps digging out the news in his books. Other real investigators like Dana Priest and Seymour Hersh. Any of the war correspondents get praise just for going out there.

What did you have for breakfast? Cereal, probably honey-nut cheerios, granola and some sweetened brand shared with the kiddies. Lots of coffee.

What one toiletry item could you not live without? toothpaste

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? Not to need sleep.

Red or white wine? Depends on food and mood, White – Australian Chardonnay, Red – any good Chianti
