With the resignation of design guru Robert Lutz from General Motors early in February and then Chris Bangle heading out the door as BMW‘s head of design the following week, it seemed like the biggest news in automotive design turnover was finished for the year. But not so fast, as the swapping seems to have just kicked off with those two big moves, with the occasion of the New York Auto Show this week finding a large number of changes with designers coming and going between the various companies, including the news late last week that another design head from GM has jumped ship and moved to a foreign car company. This time is was Phil Zak, who is moving to Hyundai, one of the few car companies doing okay in these rough times.
