Jim Rich Out as New York Daily News Editor

Yes, this is odd timing.

What kind of a newspaper changes editors with only 20 days left until a presidential election? The New York Daily News. The paper has announced that Jim Rich is out as editor in chief and Arthur Browne will succeed him.

Rich has been with the Daily News for more than a decade. He was named editor in chief just last year. Browne has been with the paper since 1973, most recently serving as editorial page editor.

In the announcement, Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman called Browne “the lifeblood and soul” of the paper.
