JDate Sponsors Jewish Film-of-the-Month Club

Is there any future in a bi-coastal, long-distance relationship? JDate seems to think so.

The LA based online dating behemoth has partnered with Film Movement, a New York purveyor of independent and foreign film DVDs by mail, for what is being deemed North America’s “first ever Jewish film-of-the-month club.” FishbowlLA doesn’t mean to rain on the cinematic parade, but we’re pretty sure this was a wide open, unchallenged business opportunity. Per the press release:

An annual 12-month subscription is $108.00 (with free shipping). Six (6) month and bi-monthly subscriptions are $68.00 and $28.00, respectively, (plus $3.25 for shipping each DVD).

The second film scheduled for the JDate sponsored series, 2009 Czech drama Protektor, has an interesting journalistic plot line. In an attempt to safeguard his Jewish wife during World War II, a Prague radio reporter goes to work for a Nazi propaganda station.
