iPhone Investigation Prompts Seizure of Journalist's Computers

Jason Chen, the Gizmodo.com editor who broke the story of the missing iPhone prototype – and revealed its 4G guts for all the internet to see – had his home raided by police on Friday evening. All his computers and servers were seized, as well as his cameras, his cell phones, and his iPad. Chen’s account of the raid can be read here.

Gawker’s lawyers have said that because Chen is a journalist, and his home a “de facto newsroom,” the seizure of his computers was illegal under California law.
