Intercourse is a Terrible Name for an App That’s as Erotic as Powerpoint

tumblr_inline_mzs610T5iU1sy580nNaming an app can be difficult. Actually, naming anything is difficult. However, that usually applies to choosing great names, not abandoning bad ones, like Intercourse, which sounds a lot more erotic for an app that’s as sexy as Powerpoint.

The Intercouse app was launched in December by an Australian team who wanted to help presenters get feedback about their presentations. It’s a useful, if not, professional tool for anonymous reviews. It is not, however, sexy enough to be named Intercourse.

According to the developer’s blog, they got some bad feedback:

We launched an app called “Intercourse” in December.

This app was designed to allow people to get honest and anonymous feedback from their audience during a pitch or presentation, and was launched in three weeks with a $0.99 price in the app store.

A little bit of this feedback would be okay, but the volume of similar feedback we received was enough to make anyone pay attention.  We’ve got real demand for this product, and a consistent theme about a single thing users are objecting to.

The search for a replacement began…

After getting some wise feedback from users, the developers finally changed their name to something benign, Feedback Fast, which, despite its pedestrian nature, was a vast improvement.
