Intel Working To Be Inside Mobile Phones

The Financial Times has a report on Intel’s planned re-entry into the mobile chip market with its new family of Atom microprocessors. Intel CEO Paul Otellini told the paper that the company’s history and experience in the PC world will help it in its mobile efforts, particularly as handsets gain more computer-like functionality.

“If you accept that the value proposition of the high-end of the mobile phone market is full Internet access that happens to have voice, my view is that it’s easier to add voice to a small computer than vice-versa,” Otellini said in the article.
