Intel Working To Be Inside Mobile Phones

The Financial Times has a report on Intel’s planned re-entry into the mobile chip market with its new family of Atom microprocessors. Intel CEO Paul Otellini told the paper that the company’s history and experience in the PC world will help it in its mobile efforts, particularly as handsets gain more computer-like functionality.

Intel first displayed Atom in April and expects to have a version of the chip for smartphones on the market late next year.
