Instagram’s new Reels feature allow users to record 15-second videos that contain one or more clips. After you record a clip, you have the option to use an “Align” tool to make sure your device’s camera is in the same position before recording your next clip (this will make the transition from one clip to another appear more seamless). Our guide will show you how this works.
Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram application on iOS.
Step 1: On the Instagram Reels camera, tap the capture button at the bottom of the screen to capture your first clip.
Step 2: Tap the “Align” button on the left side of the screen.
This will add an overlay of your previous clip on top of the screen, which you can use to line up your next clip with the previous one. The idea is to move your camera so that the overlay is in the exact same position as the “real-time” view (the overlay and the real-time view will appear to become one). When this happens, your camera is the correct position. From there, you can tap the capture button at the bottom of the screen to record another clip. Note: You don’t have to use the Align feature when recording reels with multiple clips. This is simply an option for those who want to use it.
