Instagram updated the Music sticker in Instagram Stories this week, causing song lyrics to appear on-screen as the song is played. But what if you don’t want these lyrics to appear when using the Music sticker in Stories? Our guide will show you how to hide them.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram application on iOS.

Step 1: After taking or importing a photo or video into Stories, tap the Sticker icon at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Tap the “Music” sticker.”

Step 3: Tap the song you wish to add to your Story. Note: You can tap “Search music” at the top of the screen to search for a song manually, or tap the “Moods” or “Genres” tabs near the top of the screen to browse songs based on different moods or genres, respectively.

Step 4: Swipe from right to left on the new lyrics options near the bottom of the screen until you reach one of the two square icons without “A” or “Aa.” This will replace the song lyrics with a traditional music sticker (the first square icon) or the song’s album art (the second square icon).

From there, you can continue customizing the sticker (and editing your post) as normal.
