Instagram began testing Instagram Direct messages via the web on desktop in January, and the Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing platform released the feature worldwide Friday.
Other than the “small percentage” of users who were part of the test group, Instagram Direct messages could previously be send only via its mobile applications.
