Initial Jobless Claims Drop by 31,000
After three weeks of increases, the number of first time filers for unemployment claims dropped last week. The number of initial claims fell to 473,000, a decline of 31,000 first time filers from the week ending August 14.
The drop was more than expected by analysts surveyed by Dow Jones, which predicted the number of claims would fall by 10,000. It’s a significant improvement over previous week’s revised number, which stood at 504,000 initial claims, according to a report released
