Ingram Enters eTextbook Business in India
Vital Source Technologies, the eTextbook arm of book distribution company Ingram has partnered with B.i. Publications Pvt. Ltd, India’s largest distributor of science related textbooks to bring a new eTextbook distribution platform to instituions in India.
The joint venture which is being called Ingram-B.i. Pvt. Ltd., will make Ingram’s VitalSource Bookshelf eTextbook platform available to organizations within the country. Universities and organizations can sell digital textbooks to students in India through this platform. The new venture will include a sales team, as well as customer service, and support for publishers and schools.
“India, by far, is the most exciting growth market for English language textbooks in the world today,” stated Shashank Bhagat, chairman of the Bi Group.
