Music streaming service iHeartRadio has revealed the top artists, genres and songs of 2015 on its platform for users across the U.S. These results were determined based on station creations and ‘thumbs’ posted on content in 2015.
The data showed Taylor Swift was the top artist of 2015, based on station creations in the U.S. When looking at individual states, only two states, Louisiana and Missouri, along with Washington D.C., didn’t have Swift as the top artist of 2015.
While Swift was the most popular artist of 2015, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars was the No. 1 song for station creations this year, and was the leading song in the majority of states.
The data showed R&B was the top-ranking genre of the year, followed by pop, rap, country and latin in the top five, respectively.
Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud was the No. 1 most ‘thumbed’ track of the year, beating three songs from Swift, and another of his own, in the top 10. Drake’s Hotline Bling was also incredibly popular this year, and was the No. 1 most thumbed song in October.
