IGN and Twitter Are Livestreaming Together Again, This Time From Comic-Con

The two companies teamed up on a similar arrangement at E3

IGN’s coverage of the 2017 Comic-Con Expo in San Diego will be livestreamed on Twitter July 19 through 22.

IGN Live from SDCC will be hosted and produced by IGN and will be livestreamed from the San Diego Convention Center show floor, IGN’s Hard Rock Hotel production space and locations throughout San Diego’s Gaslamp District.

IGN said its coverage will include:

  • Interviews with Comic-Con participants including ABC, AMC, DC, Lionsgate, Marvel, Netflix, Starz and TBS.
  • Preshow and post-show commentary from IGN hosts and special guests.
  • Trailers.
  • Behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Live interviews with television and movie actors and producers.
  • Cosplay highlights.
  • All-access reports from the show floor, Petco Park and The New Children’s Museum.
  • Integration of Twitter conversation, including polls and questions from users.

The livestream will be available worldwide to logged-in and logged-out Twitter users via comiccon.twitter.com and @IGN, and there will be sponsorship opportunities for advertisers, including TV-style mid-roll spots and IGN-produced original clips.

Twitter chief operating officer Anthony Noto said in a release announcing the agreement:

Coming off the heels of livestreaming original E3 content, we are thrilled to expand our livestream collaboration with IGN. This time, we’ll bring IGN’s live coverage of Comic-Con to our highly passionate comedy and entertainment fans alongside the real-time conversation on Twitter.

IGN chief programming officer and senior vice president of video Wade Beckett added:

After seeing the massive success of IGN’s first partnership with Twitter from E3, it was an easy decision to team up again for another week of livestream coverage. IGN is the first place fans head to find breaking movie, TV and comics news, and Twitter is the place they talk about it. It’s a great partnership for the fans.
