IFC Creates Crowd-Sourced Travel Guide Via Foursquare

Rainbow Media’s IFC has created a travel guide based on crowdsourced suggestions from users of the mobile social media service Foursquare.

The guide, which is available at Foursquare.com/IFC, features 100 locations across the country that share an “off-kilter sensibility.” That ties into the network’s slogan “Always On, Slightly Off.” In fact, the guide is being called “The IFC Always On. Slightly Off. Guide To America.”

The guide features suggestions from Foursquare users as well as IFC talent such as Thu Tran, who hosts the deliciously bizarre “Food Party” on the network.

“This partnership gives IFC the opportunity to connect with viewers across the country on a local, grassroots level, and do so with the network’s brand at the center of the conversation,” said Kent Rees, Senior Vice President of Marketing for IFC in a statement.
