Hulu Kicking Ass, Taking Names

And they worried it wouldn’t work. Less than a year after launching, Hulu, the joint streaming online video collaboration between NBC Universal and News Corporation, has caught two of its rivals: ESPN and CNN.

Wired, which championed the service in its October issue, reports Hulu had 142 million streams in September, well ahead of The Worldwide Leader (128 million streams) and the news network (118 million streams). This put the site in sixth place overall in terms of video streams.

Wired posits that the struggling economy helped Hulu gain traction but we’d offer that it’s just so easy to use. You can start watching Heroes and still be on the couch 12 hours later. Not that that ever happened to us.
