HUGE: Facebook Lets Page Admins Switch Between Accounts (Updated)

Facebook has rolled out a new feature along with their roll out of new Facebook Pages: the ability to switch between being logged in as the Page and as the user. This is a big change which resolves one of the biggest complaints of many page administrators.

Until now Facebook Page administrators were forced to write all posts as the administrator. However now, a user can flip between the “administrator” role and the “user” role. In other words you can take actions on behalf of the page or on behalf of yourself. This is a feature that every single administrator has wanted since the beginning of Pages. Years later, Facebook is finally rolling out some of the most needed upgrades of Facebook Pages.

From the social media marketing perspective, this is a big deal. One of the standards of practice in social media is to provide a face to a brand but Facebook never enabled that despite being the largest social media platform around. Now things have all changed. While the changes have not been pushed out to all users, we’d assume things will be pushed out to most pages over the next 24 hours or so given the number of reports we’ve received from users.

Update
Facebook sales reps are actively reaching out to brands letting them know that this was just a test and that the company is “not making any changes to Pages at this time”.
