HuffPost Ending Anonymous Comments

The Huffington Post’s comments section is a wasteland of idiocy, punctuated by the occasional worthwhile note. In an effort to curb the former, Arianna Huffington has announced that the site will stop allowing readers to comment anonymously.

As Gigaom reports, HuffPost already uses an algorithm and 40 moderators to try and keep comments sane, but that hasn’t been working. Huffington said at a conference in Boston that it was time to take things further.

“Trolls are just getting more and more aggressive and uglier and I just came from London where there are rape and death threats.
