But won’t be doing it, the NY Observer reports.

The Huffington Post launched its college reporting team yesterday with an announcement seeking 30 journalists and photographers to cover issues important to college students.

The Observer asked Adam Clark Estes, editor of citizen journalism at HuffPost, for info on the student writers’ compensation scheme, and he replied:

We do have a small budget to set student journalists up with equipment and to cover costs, but they won’t be paid on a traditional story-by-story basis. As with the rest of the citizen journalists at Huffington Post, we expect that the by-line and exposure offered by our millions of readers will be the best way to give credit.

So…we’re not surprised or even able to muster up the energy to care, since this is so common.
