HuffPost, Bustle, Upworthy Offer Inauguration Day Viewing Alternatives

They'll be on Facebook Live.

For those disinterested in watching the Inauguration, or, this latest example of the “peaceful transfer of power,” as those who are deciding to attend are calling it, there are alternative events and viewing options available.

Huffington Post, in conjunction with Bustle and Bold, is holding an 9 a.m.-5 p.m. event at the National Press Club called Watch Us Run, what it calls a “day of sharing, learning, a little bit of drinking and a lot of organizing for change.” Speakers will include Huffington Post editor in chief Lydia Polgreen, former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin, Phoebe Robinson, half of the 2 Dope Queens duo, Daily Show creator Lizz Winstead, Women’s March co-chair Bob Bland, Ashley Judd, Michael Moore, Amber Tamblyn and more. Huffington Post will livestream the event on the HuffPost Women Facebook page.

A group of organizations is providing its own stable of celebrities and activists for a Love-a-thon on Facebook Live, taking place tomorrow between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. ET, and will feature Judd Apatow, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jane Fonda, Ilana Glazer and Edward James Olmos. In a statement, Upworthy co-founder Eli Pariser said that his organization was “proud to be the official media sponsor for Friday’s Love-a-thon event, helping to raise money to protect American’s civil rights, reproductive rights and fight climate change.” Proceeds go to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and Earthjustice.
