Sprechen Sie Huffington Post?

That’s now a very legitimate question in Germany, Austria and Switzerland thanks to the official launch today in Munich of The Huffington Post’s latest international vertical.

The folks at HuffPo were kind enough to provide us with a couple of photos from today’s “presse konferenz.” Pictured above, from left to right, are Tomorrow Focus AG CEO Toon Bouten, Arianna Huffington and HuffPost Deutschland editorial director Cherno Jobatey. Below is the full HuffPost Deutschland executive team (l to r): Tomorrow Focus board member Christoph Schuh, editor-in-chief Sebastian Matthes, Huffington, Bouten, Jobatey, Huffington Post Media Group CEO Jimmy Maymann and managing director of Tomorrow Focus Media/HuffPost Deutschland Oliver Eckert.

Jobatey is a very familiar media figure in Germany. For the past 20 years, he has hosted the popular morning TV show ZDF-Morgenmagazin.

HuffPost Deutschland is based in Munich and encompasses a team of 15 journalists. With this vertical addition, the company is now in every major European market, serving the area in five different languages. From the official announcement:

“We’re delighted to add Germany to the HuffPost family, and to be partnering with Tomorrow Focus AGS, which has already done so much to shape Germany’s digital media future,” said Huffington. “Under the editorial leadership of Jobatey, HuffPost Deutschland will be telling the most important stories in Germany and – just as important – helping the people of Germany tell their stories themselves.”

“The moment is right: we’re living in a golden age of engagement, and Germans are taking part in conversations about everything from the human effects of the Euro crisis to the ways individuals and organizations can redefine success and combat burnout. So there’s a tremendous opportunity to expand and enhance that conversation by combining our partners’ experience and expertise with the power of the HuffPost platform.”

Bloggers who will be featured on HuffPost Deutschland include Labor Minister Ursula von der Leyen, Unilever CEO Paul Polman, actresses Miriam Pielhau, Jutta Speidel and Uschi Glas, criminal lawyer Professor Dr. Heinz Schöch and Council of the Evangelical Church Germany president Nikolaus Schneider.
