I've read all the bios on the site, and this one, of (and presumably by) Kathryn Ireland, is the winner in the coveted Inverse Relation Between Personal Accomplishment And Length Of Bio category: Kathryn Ireland Born in England, Kathryn M. Ireland was raised between her parent's homes in London and Scotland. After working as an actress, designing a line of women's clothes and running her own public relations company in her native London, Kathryn moved to Los Angeles in 1986. Within six weeks of her arrival she met and married Saturday Night Live filmmaker, Gary Weis. Together with Weis, she produced over thirty music videos in less than three years for performers such as Paul Simon, The Bangles, Foreigner and George Harrison. With the arrival of her three boys, Oscar, Otis and Louis, Kathryn put producing on hold and put her energy into making homes for her family. Her farmhouse in Southern France and her Spanish-style house in Santa Monica both depict her now signature style - a charmed life split between an English manor and French farmhouse. The ambient charm of these design influences have been infused with California cool, producing a casual magic that inspired friends Steve Martin, David Mamet, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lady Annabel Goldsmith to commission Kathryn to recreate the same style for their homes. Voted by House Beautiful as one of the top 100 designers in the country, Kathryn Ireland is a well-known and accomplished interior designer with an international celebrity clientele. Kathryn's design sensibility has allowed her to expand into designing both fabric and furniture. Today, Kathryn oversees the daily operations of her design firm; design projects in the Unites States and Europe, as well as the designing and manufacturing of her own fabric line. Kathryn's television appearances have included A&E House Beautiful profile, Style Network's "Shabby Chic", Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa, Keno Brothers' "Find" on PBS and "Design Wars", a month long interior design makeover reality special on ITV which aired last October in England. Kathryn's design projects appear frequently in design publications such as Elle Decor, House & Garden, House Beautiful, Veranda, W and In Style. Wow! A Spanish-style house in Santa Monica and a (presumably French-style) farmhouse in Southern France. With two bio-worthy houses, how does she find time to form opinions, not to mention run her own fabric line?
