HTML5 Video Comes To Wikipedia After 4 Years Of Experiments

Get ready for a whole new experience on Wikipedia. This morning the Wikimedia Foundation announced that it is launching a much-anticipated video project, rolling out a new HTML5 video player that will make it easier for users to add videos to Wikipedia articles.

Get ready for a whole new experience on Wikipedia.  This morning the Wikimedia Foundation announced that it is launching a much-anticipated video project, rolling out a new HTML5 video player that will make it easier for users to add videos to Wikipedia articles.

The video project, a collaboration with video platform provider Kaltura, has been in the works for some time.  Back in 2008, the site began an open, collaborative video experiment, but it took time to perfect the system.
