Hotline Profiles Ball

From “Friday Feature“:

Molly Ball has been the political reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, NV’s largest newspaper, since Feb. ’06. She’s previously worked for the Las Vegas Sun and the Cambodia Daily. Currently, with NV scheduled to hold its caucuses between IA and NH, she’s reporting on the ’08 candidates. But today she’s our Friday Feature:

What’s your most embarrassing on-the-job moment? (Or as embarrassing as you’d like to reveal?)

On a local TV talk show, I said “gay abortions” when I meant “gay adoptions.” I caught myself and said, “I’m sure the same people are against those too.”

If you could interview any deceased person, who would it be and why?

Christopher Hitchens after he dies and meets God. No, seriously, Plato. He’s my favorite philosopher and was really, in a way, a reporter. …

Robert Penn Warren’s “All the King’s Men” — one of my favorite books, period. Politics, to me, is a study in human nature.

What is your biggest weakness (and not your job interview biggest weakness)?

I can’t lift heavy boxes worth a darn, and my favorite baseball team is always going to suck.
