Hot Air Confirms Acquisition by Salem Communications

HotAirLogo.jpgSelf-described right-of-center blog Hot Air confirmed a report by Mediaite that it is being acquired by Salem Communications, adding that it would not officially address the matter until Thursday, which is also the first day of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

The post by editor Ed Morrissey read:

I’m going to open a thread on this in order to keep the rest of our comment threads on topic. Neither Allahpundit nor I will have any official comment on this until tomorrow, but if you read our Twitter feeds last night, you already knew that a big announcement about Hot Air’s business status was on the way. What I can tell you now is that Hot Air’s current mission and direction will not change, and that both AP and I will continue being part of Hot Air for the foreseeable future. Other than that…have at it!

Update: Michelle (founder and CEO Michelle Malkin) will be posting something about the acquisition soon, too, either here or at michellemalkin.com, or both.

Mediaite reported that Malkin and Christian- and family-themed Salem had been in talks for some time. Allahpundit is a blogger and editor whose identity is not publicly known. Sources told Mediaite there are no plans to merge the editorial efforts of Hot Air and Townhall, the Salem-owned conservative site.
