Hitwise: Clean Sweep for MSNBC in Cable-News Category

ABC and CBS retained their respective holds on the top two spots for broadcast-network Web sites for the week ending July 17, according to data from Hitwise.
The top three broadcast-show sites were unchanged from the week ending July 10: CBS’ Big Brother and Fox’s American Idol and America’s Most Wanted.
The top two cable-network show sites were unchanged, as well: Comedy Central’s South Park and ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. MTV’s The Hills displaced Comedy’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to claim third place.
MSNBC had all of the top three shows in the recently introduced cable-news category: Countdown with Keith Olbermann, The Rachel Maddow Show, and Zeitgeist.
When combining broadcast and cable networks, the top three remained the same as last week: Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, South Park, and Big Brother.
The only fast riser on the broadcast-show list was Fox’s The Simpsons (to No. 22 from No. 33).
Fast risers on the cable list were A&E Network’s The Glades (11 from 21), Food Network’s Next Food Network Star (14 from 24), TNT’s The Closer (15 from 81), and USA Network’s White Collar (23 from 61).
And fast risers in the overall top 25 were USA’s Covert Affairs (19 from 38) and The Glades (21 from 45).
