Hershovitz: AMPTP Are Not Producers

One of the most enduring questions asked about Hollywood is: What does a producer do? Aside from giving gassy speeches at awards shows, we mean. On yesterday’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Marshall Herskovitz, the co-creator of Thirtysomething, spoke about the confusion that newspapers like The New York Times and The Los Angeles sow among the public in the WGA writers strike. ”We’ve been trying to get (newspapers) to stop referring to the AMPTP as producers … ’cause they’re not.”
