Here Media Announces New Hires

Here Media, of "The Advocate" parent company and not-paying-their-freelancers fame, recently announced some new hires and promotions. Joe Valentino will be the new Vice President and David Posegay, who was the Associate Publisher, will fill the newly created Vice President of Sales Development position. Nice to know Here Media has the cash to create new staff positions but will only pay its writers after months and months and months of badgering. (www.heremedia.com), the world's leading gay media company, today announced two promotions in the Advertising Sales Department. The company promoted Joe Valentino to Vice President and David Posegay to the newly created Vice President, Sales Development, position. Valentino previously served as Associate Publisher. Posegay was previously Here Media's Advertising Director. Here Media brands include The Advocate, Out, HIV Plus, here! TV, Gay.com, and SheWired.com as well as the Alyson Books publishing division. "Joe is a remarkable salesperson and leader. He continually generates new revenue, year over year. Joe has been promoted to Vice President as a testament to his salesmanship, leadership, and additional responsibilities," said Here Media Senior Vice President and Group Publisher Joe Landry. "David is a strategic thinker who excels at focusing on our clients' objectives and is the obvious choice for this newly created position." In his new role, Valentino continues managing the pharmaceutical and automotive account categories for The Advocate, Out, and HIV Plus print publications. Simultaneously, he will supervise sales of the telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and liquor categories across Here Media's digital properties. Valentino will additionally oversee the health and wellness content areas to be packaged into multiplatform sales and marketing initiatives. Valentino had been with PlanetOut Inc., later acquired by Here Media, since 1999. He most recently served as Associate Publisher of The Advocate and Out and as Publisher of HIV Plus. During his tenure, Valentino has developed and nurtured client relationships that have been instrumental in transitioning the company into a true industry leader. As Vice President, Sales Development, Posegay now supervises new business development and the sale of integrated corporate media partnerships for Here Media's growing client base. He will collaborate with Here Media's Integrated Marketing Department as well as the Advertising Sales Department in order to generate new and creative multiplatform marketing programs utilizing Here Media's prominent brands. Posegay began his media career at Chicago-based Starcom MediaVest Group working on both the strategy and investment teams for clients including Diageo and Miller Brewing. Posegay later became the Marketing Manager at Chicago magazine and Chicago Home+Garden, a division of The Tribune Company, and eventually transitioned into the Sales Department for those properties. In 2007, he joined Planet Out Inc., later acquired by Here Media Inc., as Advertising Director.
