Henry Rollins Muses Of Glenn Beck: ‘Now I Know Why Tigers Eat Their Young’

We have no idea how they landed him, (Actually maybe we do, nice work Shelley Leopold) but the newer, newsier, decidedly-less-hip LA Weekly has re-upped their readability quotient by having Henry Rollins write a weekly column for their music section.

As you’d expect of Rollins, this week’s column is all over the place–a meandering river of music and politics. We especially like this graph on Glenn Beck.

I watched Glenn Beck’s revelatory speech at the Lincoln Memorial last Saturday via Internet. I am still looking for a transcript so I can re-read all my favorite parts. Try as I might, at the time of this writing, I can’t find it. I like it when Mr. Beck tries to make himself cry and his voice gets all choked up. He tried a couple of times at the Restoration Fest but he couldn’t seem to get it happening. His aimless ramblings didn’t make me want to make God the center of my life but at one point, I was reminded of something Rodney Dangerfield’s Caddyshack character Al Czervik said, “Now I see why tigers eat their young . . .” I think I understand what he was getting at now. Democracy, what a long strange trip it’s been.
