Helio Charging to Access Free YouTube
When we said you have nothing to lose when trying out the new YouTube Mobile on your cellphone, apparently that was a short-lived suggestion.
Engadget Mobile is reporting that Helio is now charging subscribers $5.99 per month to access YouTube (among other sites). This comes less than a week after YouTube released their mobile version that anyone can access for free, not just Verizon users.
This could be part of a disturbing trend, though on the face of it, it makes sense that carriers would try and make money off of video streaming over their networks.
