Has Jerry Brown Turned into a Celebrity-Obsessed Media Whore?

True/Slant’s Sarah Libby is on to California Attorney General Jerry Brown. First, Libby notes, he inserted himself into the most recent Anna Nicole Smith flap — indicting doctors who prescribed her pills, even though they were from Florida. Then he was suddenly felt the need to tweet about Corey Haim’s proclivity for “doctor shopping” for pills.

Now the wanna-be governor is piggybacking off of Sarah Palin, after parts of her speaking contract with Cal State Stanislaus were fished out of the trash and made public.

Brown announced on Tuesday that his office was investigating the Stanislaus Foundation, both their finances and to see whether they violated public disclosure laws by not publicly revealing Palin’s speaking fee.

“This is not about Sarah Palin,” Brown said. “The issues are public disclosure and financial accountability in organizations embedded in state-run universities.”

Riiiight. Nothing to do with Sarah Palin at all. Nothing to do with say, the media attention that comes every time her name is invoked.
