Handmark Expands through FreeRange Buy

Mobile media development and distribution outfit Handmark has acquired FreeRange Communications. FreeRange’s publishing platform powers such mobile sites as The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, CBS, NewGator, PaidContent and others.

Handmark plans to build on FreeRange’s media and content publisher partners by adding new capabilities to their services. Additionally, Handmark intends to enhance its own mobile technologies with FreeRange’s RSS Web reading functionality.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close in the next few weeks.
