Google Visual Search for Android in Development: Search by Taking Photos
Very interesting item over on eWeek…
Google Visual Search Coming for Android Phones
I should note that this is NOT a rumor or speculation piece. It is based on a demo Google gave during a CNBC news segment last week Thursday. Although eWeek doesn’t call it an Augmented Reality app, I think the case could be made that it is one or is very closely related to AR.
Here’s how it works:
= Take a photo of a place around you with an Android phone
– The Google Visual Search app sends that photo to Google for processing
– Google returns information related to the object you photographed and the location around it
How cool is that? I’m definitely looking forward to trying Google Visual Search.
