Google Steps Into Apple-HTC Battle

Search giant provides ammunition for HTC’s latest attack

Taiwanese phone maker HTC has lodged a fresh complaint against Apple with the U.S. International Trade Commission, after buying nine tech patents from Google.

HTC claims that Apple's computers and mobile devices infringe patents involving Wi-Fi capability and processor communication technology, the BBC reports.

It is the latest in a long line of disputes between the two companies. In July this year, the ITC ruled that HTC had infringed on two of Apple’s patents, as reported by Adweek.

Google had previously been criticized for not protecting Android partners against legal attacks, Bloomberg notes.
