Google Loses Engineering Director Lucovsky

Google engineering director Mark Lucovsky is leaving the company to join VMware, according to TechCrunch.

Lucovsky was an integral part of Google’s application-program interfaces, including the Search APIs, according to TechCrunch. Prior to Google, he was with Microsoft for 16 years, earning the title of distinguished engineer.

Odds are his departure from Google won’t be quite as tumultuous as his exit meeting with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in 2004. As recounted by TechCrunch, Ballmer reportedly said, “Just tell me it’s not Google,” then, upon finding out it was, ranted, “Fucking [Google CEO] Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy.
