Geeks vs Nerds: The Rap Battle for Supremacy

In hip hop culture, the rap battle is when two emcees get together for a combination of bragging and degrading one another to decide who will reign supreme. Since geeks and nerds are always battling for internet supremacy, it seems only appropriate to duke it out hip hop style.

I’ve always considered myself a nerd about certain things — especially music. What does this nerdiness entail? Not only is there always a song — possibly popular, more often obscure — but I also pride myself on knowing music history and theory. It goes beyond the love of music, to music obsession.

And this is the crucial difference between nerds and geeks. Geeks may love something but nerds obsess about the most minute detail. A geek might love to play video games but the nerds make the games. Geeks might love Star Trek and cosplay Captain Picard but a nerd is likely to be fluent in Klingon.

Still not sure about the distinction? Here’s a Geeks vs Nerds rap battle from Rhett and Link that might help.
