Gawker Suspends Staffer for 'Inadvertent Duplication'

gawkerlogoGawker has suspended staff writer Jay Hathaway after he posted a story that featured “several similar phrasings, one outright identical phrase, and a close structural similarity” to a Miami New Times article.

The author of the New Times piece, which is about a “porn diva/foot goddess” (you’re interested now, aren’t you?), alerted Gawker editor Max Read about the issue. After reviewing both pieces, Read decided to suspend Hathaway for one week.
