GateHouse Media Announces Narrowed 2Q Loss
GateHouse Media, publisher of 87 daily newspapers and some 270 weeklies across the country, yesterday reported a second-quarter net loss of $5.3 million, an improvement over the loss of $496.5 million it took in the second quarter of 2009. Much of the 2009 loss was attributable to an impairment charge of $481.4 million.
The narrowed loss came on declining revenue. The company’s top-line figure dropped 4.7% year over year to $144.2 million. Same-store advertising revenue fell 4.4%
