Fwix Launches Local Trend Search Portal

Hyperlocal location-based news site Fwix launched a new portal allowing users to see a real-time feed of items about the locations they choose, including news, events, government happenings, business reviews, foursquare and Gowalla check-ins, and maps, TechCrunch reported.

Fwix launched an iPad app in April, and it has added geo-tagged status updates from Twitter, foursquare, Gowalla, and Brightkite; photos from Flickr, yfrog, Smugmug, and Twitpic; events from Eventbrite, Eventful, Upcoming, and Zvents; reviews from Yelp and Citysearch; concert information from Songkick; local crime and government data; weather; classified listings from Oodle and Trulia; and deal offers from local merchants via Groupon, Town Hog, and Living Social, according to TechCrunch.
