Future Music A Thing Of The Past?

future_music_done.jpgFuture US Inc., publisher of gaming and music magazines with offices in New York, has given the ax to Future Music, a consumer publication for computer-wielding musician nerds, FishbowlNY has learned.

According to an inside source, the 3-year-old magazine’s editor-in-chief, James Rotondi, and sales executive Matt Charles have been dismissed. Mac Randall, senior editor of Guitar One, one of Future USA’s guitar-oriented titles, also left.

Randall was replaced by former Future Music senior editor Chris Gill.

Future US Inc. shuttered four titlesWomen’s Health & Fitness, House DIY, Decorating Spaces, Scrapbook Answers — in October.

A spokesperson from Future US gave FBNY the following explanation:

“…Today we find ourselves with weak sales and trending downward and with minimal growth on the subscription side. And sowith this the case, the difficult decision has been made to close Future Music Magazine, and continue to explore opportunies in this space through our on-going launch initiatives.”
