foursquare to Help The History Channel Promote America the Story of Us

Historyfoursquare.jpgAs part of their recently announced partnership, The History Channel will team up with mobile location-based social game foursquare to promote America the Story of Us, which will debut on the cable network Sunday, April 25 at 9 p.m. ET.

foursquare users who check in at select locations across the United States that are associated with American history will receive “Fun Fact Pop Up” messages with additional information, such as users who check in at St. Paul’s Chapel in New York learning that George Washington worshipped there on his Inauguration in 1789, as well as users who check in at the Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles discovering that it opened in 1963 for the premiere of It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

In addition, 10 randomly selected foursquare users will win History sports bags containing prizes including a Classic 1935 Monopoly Game, a portable cooler, grilling tools, and a picnic set.

History senior vice president of marketing Chris Moseley said:

Teaming up with foursquare for the America the Story of Us promotion reinforces the History brand’s 360-degree approach of aggressively reaching our viewers in new platforms. The connection to America the Story of Us is a perfect fit, as it will allow users of foursquare to discover the history in their own cities, as well as leaving historical tips for others to experience.
