Foursquare and Google Test NFC Check-Ins At Google I/O

Owners of smartphones equipped with near-field communication (NFC) technology, such as new Nexus S 4G, will be able to check-in on Foursquare and receive a special Google I/O badge by chicking their phones against posters. If you are like most U.S. smartphone owners and don't have an NFC-enabled phone, you can scan a QR code on the poster instead.

Foursquare and Google have partnered up to test location-based, mobile check-ins. The test commenced at the Moscone Center, San Francisco convention center of Google I/O, the search giant’s big annual developer conference taking place this week in San Francisco (May 10 – 11).
