FotoWeek DC Calling for Submissions

FotoWeek DC is calling for submissions by both professional and amateur photographers for their 2010 International Awards Competition.

Entries can be submitted for 12 different categories (after the jump), each with a cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers. Photos submitted by September 20 will be presented before a panel of judges for review. The winning images for FotoWeek DC’s International Awards Competition will be exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art throughout the festival from November 6th to 13th.

The categories include: The Spirit of Washington, which honors the photograph that best captures the essence of the Nation’s Capital with a prize of $5,000; Best Single Image in the subcategories of Photojournalism/Social Documentary, Fine Art, Contemporary Life, Travel and Portrait; Best Series of photographs in the sub-categories of Photojournalism/Social Documentary, Fine Art, Environmental Conservation and Commercial; Best Mobile Phone Image, in recognition of the fabulous imagery being shot on smart phones; and a Multimedia category to include works that combine still photography, video, sound and graphics.
